Arts College Osmania University
The first time I saw this college is when I went to enroll for the Basics of Photography course. As I entered the building, it looked more like a palace and less like a college. What an experience it would be to study arts in this magnificent example of art.
Designed by Monsieur Jasper, a Belgian architect in 1934, the foundation of the building was laid by Mir Osman Ali Khan, who is known for his passion to make Hyderabad a great city. Its said that the designers did a thorough study of various architectures all over the world before starting this architecture marvel.
The building in pinkish granite stone represents a harmonious blend of pillars and lintel style of Ajanta and Ellora.
Shahabad stones was used for the flooring of the first and the second floor.
The college inaugurated in 1934 and since then its going strong. It received INTACH Heritage Award in 2006.
Finally, it was time to leave the place with a lot of memories and some pictures.
This post would be incomplete without a big Thank You to my friend Mallika Rajkumar for taking us there and to Rajesh Pamnani, who is always my good friend, philosopher and guide.
Thank you for reading this post. Hope you liked spending time here. I will be back again with another interesting place.
