Rann of Kutch is a huge area of salt marshes situated mostly in Kutch district of Gujarat, India and shares some parts of Sindh, Pakistan. It is mainly divided into two parts: Great Rann of Kutch and Rann of Kutch. It is seasonally marshy reason. The word “Rann” means “salt marsh”. Kutch is the name of the district where it is located in Gujarat.
It covers a massive area of 10,000 square miles. There is a river in the northeast corner of it, Luni river, starting in Rajasthan.
Kutch Utsav is celebrated with the support of the Gujarat’s Government to increase the tourism in Kutch region. The entire white dessert is built with tents in the winters. Many tourists come from all over the world to experience the Kutch Utsav. The Utsav commences approximately in November and lasts up to February.
Rann of Kutch is 86 km away from Bhuj. The nearest airport is Bhuj, where flights from the major cities of India land there. Trains from Mumbai to Bhuj are available. Travelling by road to Kutch is considered to be interesting experience.
