Sonagiri is 61 kms from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. The name Sonagiri means “the golden peak”, which is a sacred place to Jains. There are several Jain temples across Sonagiri. This place is well known among devotees and ascetic saints to practice self-discipline and austerity to acquire salvation from the time of Bhagwan Chandraprabhu.
There are 77 magnificent Jain temples, Temple no. 57 is considered to be the main. This is huge in size, very attractive creative spire. In the temple is the principal deity are Lord Chandraprabha who is 11 feet in height.Two other beautiful idols are installed, Lord Sheetalnath and Lord Parsvanatha.
Sonagiri is about 15 kms from Datia, 40 kms from Jhansi. Buses are available from Gwalior, Datia and Jhansi.
Nearest airport is Gwalior.
