Phalodi is a city and a municipality in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. It is famous as the Salt City due to large number of salt industries located in that area. Initially it was called as Phalvardhika later on renamed as Phalodi on the request of the widowed daughter of Shri Sidhu Kalla, who was a considerate contributor to build the fort of Phalodi. There are around 500 villages in Phalodi.
Sodium salt and Plaster of Paris are produced in large number in this town. The largest supplier of salt in India is Phalodi. The town has some old temples of Goddess Latiyal and Shantinath. There is a Parsnath Jain temple build by the Oswal Jain community, considered to be phenomenon in architecture.
Phalodi is easily accessible by air, rail, and road. Jodhpur is 143 km away from Phalodi. There are trains available from Jodhpur to Phalodi. Jodhpur is the nearest airport to reach Phalodi.
