He is involved in various volunteering activities with several organizations like Rang De, Art for Causes and Teach for India.ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPA Summer Day in Telangana with Saurabh Chatterjee is a photography workshop offered in partnership with Rang De, India’s first low-cost online crowd funding platform that provides microcredit to rural entrepreneurs.Rang De has been striving to reach out to under-served communities through microcredit to make poverty history in India through a network of committed field partners and social investors. This photography workshop is an effort to draw greater attention to Rang De’s cause. The participants of the workshop will travel to Mehbubnagar in Telangana 120 km from Hyderabad where they will be guided by Saurabh as they capture farmers working on their fields and preparing the land for cultivation.Selected pictures taken by the participants will be chosen to be displayed at Photo-Exhibitions in Hyderabad and Bangalore, along with Saurabh’s photographs.WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP?Farming is similar to photography. Timing is everything. Farmers synchronize their lives and their crop with nature’s cycles. Seeds must sown during a specific season. Fertilizers must be applied at a certain time. Harvest depends on the sun and rain.

But how can a marginal farmer sync with mother nature’s schedule when they struggle for money to buy seeds and fertilizers?

Rang De (along with ‘Access Livelihood Consulting’) began offering marginal women farmers in Mehbubnagar loans at 8.5% per annum with a six-month moratorium period. For the first time, the farmers from Mehabubnagar are able to break free from the deathly grip of exploitative local traders.

This workshop is your chance to look through the view finder and document the lives of these indomitable women from Mahabubnagar.
