ITINERARY – 10th JULY To 19th JULY 2015

DAY 1 10th July To Srinagar Upon Arrival, Transfer To Houseboat. A Day Of Rest Is Highly Recommended As It Eases The Process Of Acclimatisation. Also Sipping Some Hot Kawa While Overlooking The Lake Is Definitely Not A Bad Way To Start Your Trip, Alternatively You Can Also Choose To Take A Shikara Ride.Dinner And Overnight Stay At Double Deluxe Houseboat.

 

DAY 2 11th July Depart To Kagil We Depart For Kargil Early Morning And This Journey Is Blessed With Mesmerising Sights.Soon After Leaving Srinagar, We Enter Sonmarg, Sonmarg, Which Means “Meadow Of Gold”, Provides A Fantastic Start To The Journey As We Enter The Sindh Valley. Road To Sankhoo Is Via The Zozilla Pass (11575 Ft) And Drass.We Pay Our Respects At Vijay Samarak Or Kargil War Memorial Just Before Entering Kargil. Dinner And Overnight Stay At Kargil.

 

DAY 3 12th July To Shapath Shapath Is 3 Hrs Drive From Kargil And This Drive Through Suru Valley Offers Mesmerising Views Of The Nun Kun Massiff. An Amazing Camping Site, The Valley Will Mesmerise You With Himalayan Vistas And Brilliant Night Skies.We Conduct A Small Hike In The Evening Towards The Shapath Nala, Where You Will Spot A Lot Of Marmots En Route.Set Up Camp In The Beautiful Valley Of Shapath And Stay The Night.

 

DAY 4 13th July To Padum We Depart For Padum, The Largest Town In Zanskar Tehsil Crossing Penzila Pass. The Penzi-La Pass (4401m) Is A Scenic Tableland Surrounded By Snow-Covered Peaks.The Drive To Padum Is Surrounded By Colourful Hills On The One Side And Glacier – Encrusted Rocky Mountains On The Other. Its Approximately 5 To 6 Hrs Via Rangdum, Pensi La And Abran. As The Zanskar Road Winds Down The Steep Slopes Of Penzi-La To The Head Of The Zanskar Valley, The Majestic Drang-Drung Glazier Looms Into Full View. We Cross The Drang Drung Glacier, The Source Of Doda River To Reach Padum And Set Up Our Camp.Enroute We Can Visit “Doksa”, Rock Houses Atop Mountains Where Young Women From Nearby Villages Make Yoghurt In Summer Season.

 

DAY 5 14th July Attend The Karsha Gustor Festival And Visit Sheila Falls In Padum We Head To Attend The Karsha Festival In The Morning And Will Visit The Sheila Falls In The Evening Post Lunch.Padum, The Biggest Settlement Of Zanskar Valley Was Named After Padmasambhava. At An Average Altitude. 11000 Ft, Its A Small Town With Warm People.

 

DAY 6 15th July To Rangdum Via The Pensi LaRangdum Is Probably The Coldest And Highest Camping Spot In Our Itinerary, Close To 13000 Ft. It Is The Last Inhabited Place In Suru Valley And Is Known To Harbour The Nomadic Herdsmen Called Bakarwals, Who Take The Long Road From Kashmir Valley Every Year During The Summers For The Green And Fertile Grass Of The Suru Valley.It Is Said That There Is Something Special About The Soil Of The Valley As It Is Known To Produce One Of The Best Quality Barley In The Entire World.Today Would Be A No Moon Day As Per The Lunar Cycle, And It Is Bound To Be A Mesmerizing Experience.

 

DAY 7 16th July To Tangole And Nun Base Camp Trek We Have Been Building Up To This, With Enough Time To Acclimatise With Short Hikes During The Previous Day. We Will Try And Attempt The Nun Base Camp Trek This Day. It Takes About 4 Hrs To Reach The Base Camp, So An Early Start Is Important. We Will Leave Randum Early Morning And With Packed Lunch And Snacks We Will Begin The Trek Aiming To Reach Back By Sun Down.Overnight Camp At Tangole.

 

DAY 8 17th July To Sankhoo Just 40 Kms Before Kargil Lies Sankhoo, The Start Of Suru Valley. We Set Up Camp In The Shadow Of The Nun Kun Massif.Nun The Visible Peak From Sankhoo Is At An Altitude Of 23,409 Ft Towers Over The Rest. Considered To Be One Of The Most Technical Climbs, It Offers Breathtaking Views In Various Shades Of The Day And Night.

 

DAY 9 18th July Leave For Srinagar Early Morning Departure Towards Srinagar. Overnight stay in DELUXE HOUSEBOATSDinner And Overnight Stay At Srinagar.

 

DAY 10 19th July Departure Early Morning Visit To Floating Market And Departure

    Wanted to know a couple of things:
    1. What would be the size of the group?
    2. What is the last date for registering?
    3. Are there any basic physical preparedness requirements?
    4. And one stupid question, will there be sufficient scope to wander around by myself, obviously within the boundaries of your plan. I find shooting along with a group quite irritating and unproductive, and hence the question.

  3. im very much interested in joining u but as the above statement says that this doest not include travel from hyd to srinagar and back im okay with that i connot travel alone so will there be anyone to join me from hyd to srinagar and way back as well
