Begum Bazar

Begum Bazar is one of the biggest and oldest commercial market in Hyderabad. It is an old market for wholesale and retail shops, located at half a kilometer from the Old city’s Naya Pul Bridge. The market’s land was gifted to the merchants of Hyderabad for trade and commerce by Humda Begum, wife of Nizam Ali Khan Nizamul Mulk. Hence was named as Begum Bazar.

One can find all sort of commodities like gold, silver, dry fruits, household items, cloths, stationery, plastic bags, paper, brassware products, crockery, pooja material, handicrafts items and much more. This place is always crowded since many people and retailers come from all parts of the city to buy their products. It has the second biggest Fish Market of Hyderabad, first being the Musheerabad’s. Begum Bazar is close to the famous Osmania General Hospital, Jumerat Bazaar and Musi River.

The streets and lanes are very narrow. Pedestrians, motorcycles, bicycles and scooters are allowed to enter.
