Ranakpur is located in Desuri tehsil near Sadri town in the Pali district of Rajasthan. It is situated between Udaipur and Jodhpur. It is 171 kms away from Jodhpur and 94 kms from Udaipur. Falna Railway station is the nearest railway station which is 35 kms away from Ranakpur. Ranakpur is one among the most prominent places to visit in Pali,Rajasthan. It is easily accessed by road from Udaipur.
The renowned Jain temple at Ranakpur is dedicated to Tirthankara Adinatha. It is immensely popular among tourists in Rajasthan and is one of the five most important pilgrimage places of Jainism. It receives several visitors because of its status as major pilgrim destination in the state. This serene place is acclaimed for some astonishingly carved Jain Temples constructed in amber stone around the year 1439 AD.
Ranakpur is named after Rana Kumbha, the ruler of Mewar. For the construction of the temple he offered his land. The Jain temple is a series of 29 halls, 80 domes and 1444 individually engraved pillars. The interior is completely covered in admiringly, entangled worked carving, and has an extraordinary calming sense of space and harmony.
One can easily reach Ranakpur Temples from Udaipur city by taking regular Buses or by hiring Taxis.
