Tomb of Syed Mir Hashim Karpo Khar village, Sankoo near Kargil in the Suru Valley

Karpokhar village is located in Sankoo Tehsil of Kargil district in Jammu & Kashmir, India. It is situated 8km away from sub-district headquarter Sankoo and 50km away from district headquarter Kargil.

We visited this place during our Photo-tour to Zanskar.

Total populations of Karpo Khar is 133 people. You are find about 17 houses in Karpo Khar village. Town nearest to Karpo Khar is Kargil which is approximately 50km away

Sankoo is famous for the Karpo-Khar Shrine. Devotees from the entire country visit this shrine, which belongs to Sayed Mir Hashim, a well known Muslim saint who had been invited from Kashmir during 16th Century.

Karpokhar shrine is really great place with its historic and religious background.People from around the villages rates this shrine very high and say that all your wishes will come true here. The road leading to this place is great, really awesome. Devotees visit this place to take blessings from the saint, as Syed Mir Hashim is respected by the people till date.

It was drizzling when we visited this place and it looked at its best. We played around with the kids in the village and took some pictures. There is nothing much to do, but its a great pit stop. You can surely spend some time walking in the fields and talking to the kids.

Thank you for reading this post. Hope you liked spending time here. I will be back again with another interesting place.
