🏔️ Spiti Valley Photography Tour Itinerary
📍 Day 1 – Chandigarh (321 m / 1,053 ft) → Rampur (1,010 m / 3,307 ft)
Distance: ~260 km
Driving Time: 8–9 hours
✨ Highlights
- Start from Chandigarh and drive towards the Himalayas
- Scenic journey via Shimla and Narkanda
- Gradual ascent along the Sutlej River
- First introduction to mountain landscapes
Overnight: Rampur
📍 Day 2 – Rampur (1,010 m) → Kalpa (2,960 m / 9,711 ft)
Distance: ~140 km
Driving Time: 6–7 hours

- Drive through Kinnaur region with dramatic mountain views
- Views of the Kinner Kailash range
- Explore Kalpa village and monastery
- Walk through apple orchards and local settlements
Overnight: Kalpa
📍 Day 3 – Kalpa (2,960 m) → Nako (3,662 m / 12,014 ft)
Distance: ~120 km
Driving Time: 5–6 hours

- Drive along the rugged Indo-Tibetan Highway
- Changing landscape from green valleys to cold desert terrain
- Visit Nako Lake and monastery
- First feel of Spiti’s high-altitude environment

📍 Day 4 – Nako (3,662 m) → Gue (3,900 m / 12,795 ft) → Tabo (3,280 m / 10,760 ft)
Distance: ~70 km

- Visit Gue village and the 500-year-old mummy
- Enter Spiti Valley proper
- Visit Tabo Monastery (Ajanta of the Himalayas)

📍 Day 5 – Tabo (3,280 m) → Mud Village (3,810 m / 12,500 ft)
Distance: ~95 km
Driving Time: 5–6 hours

- Visit Dhankar Monastery (cliff-top monastery)
- Enter Pin Valley National Park
- Cross remote villages and landscapes
- Reach Mud village – starting point of Pin-Parvati trek
Overnight: Mud
📍 Day 6 – Mud (3,810 m) → Key (4,166 m / 13,668 ft) → Kibber (4,270 m / 14,010 ft) → Kaza (3,800 m / 12,467 ft)
Distance: ~50 km
Driving Time: 4–5 hours

- Visit Key Monastery
- Explore Kibber village (one of the highest motorable villages)
- Wildlife spotting (ibex, blue sheep if lucky)
- Visit Chicham Bridge (deep gorge views)
Overnight: Kaza
📍 Day 7 – Kaza (3,800 m) → Hikkim (4,440 m / 14,567 ft) → Komic (4,587 m / 15,049 ft) → Langza (4,420 m / 14,501 ft) → Kaza
Distance: ~45 km (round trip)
Driving Time: 4–5 hours
✨ Highlights
- Visit Hikkim – world’s highest post office
- Explore Komic – one of the highest motorable villages
- Visit Langza – fossil village with Buddha statue
- Wide-angle landscapes and village life photography
Overnight: Kaza
📍 Day 8 – Kaza (3,800 m) → Kalpa (2,960 m / 9,711 ft)
Distance: ~200 km
Driving Time: 8–9 hours
✨ Highlights
- Long scenic drive back through Spiti and Kinnaur
- Changing landscapes from cold desert to greener valleys
- Revisit familiar routes with new perspectives
Overnight: Kalpa
📍 Day 9 – Kalpa (2,960 m) → Chail (2,250 m / 7,382 ft)
Distance: ~180 km
Driving Time: 7–8 hours
✨ Highlights
- Drive through apple-growing regions
- Transition from rugged mountains to forested hills
- Relaxed evening in Chail
Overnight: Chail
📍 Day 10 – Chail (2,250 m) → Chandigarh (321 m / 1,053 ft)
Distance: ~110 km
Driving Time: 3–4 hours
✨ Highlights
- Leisurely drive back to Chandigarh
- Gradual descent from mountains
- End of the journey
Important Points to Note for this Tour
- Participants should reach Chandigarh a day before the starting day and can book an flight after 4pm on the last day. Our tour will start and end from Chandigarh Airport
- It will be extremely cold, do please bring jackets suitable for -10 to -20 temperatures.
- Please carry a flask for drinking hot water.
- Most of the stays will be in basic hotels, most don't operate during winters.
- In winter, snowfall happens frequently causing roadblocks. If required, the itinerary needs to be modified. Any additional cost related to this has to be beared by the participants on actuals.

1) Accommodation at all destinations as per the itinerary. (Twin sharing basis) Single room available on request.2) Vegetarian breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Day 1 morning to Day 10 Morning
3) Comfortable vehicle (Tempo Traveller or Ertiga) for all days as per the itinerary
4) Driver charges and inter-state toll.

Cost does not include
1) Travel to Leh and return travel from Chandigarh to your location.
2) Bottled Water, additional food or beverages ordered; tips, etc.
3) Anything that is not mentioned in inclusions.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
0. How cold will it be?
Temperatures at Kaza will drop to minus 15 C at night.
As we spend time outdoors for astrophotography sessions, it is important to come well-prepared with proper warm clothing.
Places like Langza can be particularly cold and windy at night.
1. Do I need to be physically fit to join this trip?
The journey is primarily by SUVs, with only light walking involved.
However, we will be traveling at high altitudes, which can affect individuals differently.
We strongly recommend consulting your doctor before the trip, especially if you have any pre-existing health conditions.
2. Is this trip only for photographers?
Not at all. This experience is open to anyone who appreciates travel, landscapes, and meaningful experiences.
While photography will be a key part of the journey, many non-photographers have joined our tours in the past and enjoyed them just as much.
3. I have no knowledge of photography. Will I get guidance?
Absolutely. You will receive continuous guidance throughout the tour.
Saurabh will personally assist you in understanding how to capture compelling images—making the learning process simple, engaging, and enjoyable.
By the end of the journey, you will not only return with memorable photographs, but also with improved skills and confidence.
